Transformers Voyager – Lugnut

    • He is glorious! Inspired by Decepticon Lugnut from Transformers Animated. This brave Decepticon thug transforms from bomber to robot and back again!
    • Prepare for the ultimate glory of the Decepticons with his mighty punch!

    He is glorious!

  • The massive robots in disguise can be anything– a helicopter, a rescue vehicle, even your car– and who knows what they’re after? This is the individually packaged Lugnut toy, armed and ready to pave the way for Megatron’s glorious ascent to the head of the galaxy.
  • He measures about 7-inches long in vehicle mode and features a rub-sign to see what his true allegiance is!
  • (Spoiler alert: he’s a Decepticon.)

None too bright, but fanatically loyal to Megatron, Lugnut lives to see the Decepticons victorious. He is a literally a force of nature on the battlefield — gravity generators in his fists spawn point singularities on impact, causing massive explosions with each punch. That, combined with his seemingly limitless supply of missiles, makes him a chaotic and deadly opponent – one that most Autobots avoid at all costs. Roll out for some serious robot action. This villainous Lugnut warrior figure features a spring-loaded arm conversion and a launching missile accessory to give his opponents extra trouble. When it’s time for combat, convert him into long-range bomber vehicle mode so he can soar right into the heart of the battle.

I’ve never had an airplane transformer quite like Lugnut before. His robot mode appears very intimidating to me and that’s a plus. His head has one gigantic eye and has a mouth you can kinda open if he’s looking straight on. I dig how his arms use the engine pods as shoulders and his arms have overall great posing (I especially dig his simple claw fingers). The spring-loaded punch gimmick is unnecessary. They couldn’t work in a wrist swivel, though, so that may be a negative. His legs look great and have several joints but the friction ones have trouble holding him up unless I get him balanced just so. The ankles do swivel sideways so that helps.

He’s durable. He’s survived a few falls from desk height with no damage.

I do not like the “cockpit bubble”. The plastic is very soft and in plane mode it seems very difficult to get the two halves to line up and not have a bad seam on the bottom. It distracts me but it’s not a deal-breaker. I also don’t like the tail missile launcher. I don’t understand why they felt the need to fill in his tail section with a launcher that is cumbersome to use in both modes; it’s forgettable.

His plane mode is quite fetching, even though his tucked-in legs make the plane’s underbelly look a bit bulky. It’s okay, though–makes it look like he can perform water landings, though that’s not really a bomber’s place :D. The plane mode yields a great display piece. The spring-loaded punch gimmick may accidentally trigger because those switches seem to have tempermental personalities. However, if you don’t mind the gaps they leave, the gimmick does actually extend his wingspan a bit.

I can overlook the criticisms I have and enjoy both his pleasing plane mode and his strong-arm bruiser robot mode. I’d say give him a try if he catches your eye.

Unlike the strafe figure i bought, I am in love with this toy. It is wonderful. Nuff said. Its a really cool transformation and the toy looks great in both transformed and untransformed state. Good buy.

This is a great transformer. My five year old loves it and can transform it with no problem. It is durable and holds up to rough play as well. There are some nice videos on YouTube showing how to transform it if you get stuck.
