Once again Hasbro awards us with another gem that was thought to be the G1 Unicron toy of this series.Well if you include Cyberverse Hardshell thats two but which one did we want more? People behold Shockwave. Lets go ahead and get to the juicy stuff.

Shockwave transforms into a cybertronian tank/artillery vehicle. First and foremost I want to say the armor is completely removeable. I know a lot of people who were going to be nothing short of extremely p’ od if it wasn’t.So… Thank you Hasbro. So aparently we won’t be seeing Shockwave as a gun anymore. Understandable because he’d have to be as cold and calculating as Plankton from spongebob. I know I shouldn’t have said that but that’s the first example that came to mind. I’m super happy he doesn’t sport the DOTM look. I’m sorry but that vehicle mode was just horrid looking. Thank Primus we didn’t see that in the movie! Good Decision Mr Bay!This Vehicle mode is really cool. Shockwave deceptively holds together very well and rolls just as great. The spinning cannon works greats and adds a few points to the intimidation factor. Granted it doesn’t line up perfect every time but have we ever had a feature like that work perfect? Needless to say this isnt a big deal for me.One thing I should add is the cannon does not rotate around. It would have been a cool feature but it is fixed in place for vehicle mode.Going back to the armor for a minute. I just….I’m not a big fan of it at all. My personal opinion…just leave it off. That was a huge waste of rubbery stuff Hasbro has been very fond of using here lately that could have went toward more detail paint. Not that Shockwave needs any more detail just saying.

Now for you parents out there I bring good news. Transformation is easy. I don’t see any issues for children 5 and older. Yes shockwave does look complicated but don’t let this decepticon deceive you. I have had some problems with the feet transformation as they slide back and the slide is super super tight. So you may have to do a little wiggling to get it slide with a hair more ease. Over time and a few transformations this MAY get easier. Only time will tell.I really like his transformation. It’s very very fun. I can’t tell you how many times my shockwave has been back and fourth. I love his chest transformation. I won’t ruin it for anyone but it’s in one word addictive.

Now for the best part. Robot Mode. I frickin love it. His left tread on his back folds down and can peg into his cannon giving the chained ammo look. It does not limit poseability one tiny bit. Shockwave stands really well and is very poseable. This figure is literally a hair away from being what I define as a masterpiece. Shockwaves head sculpt looks utterly amazing and is pretty darn accurate to the show along with his look overall.Parents if you are nervous about the spikes on his head there is no need to worry as they are made with soft rubbery plastic very similar to the RID Starscream. Shockwave is also in perfect scale with the RID figures and Beast Hunters line (minus Predaking that is) and towers some of the voyager figures. as for the armor. I know I said it before but Im still not a big fan of it so I’ve just been setting it off to the side. It does look cool from a certain perspective but it doesn’t suit Shockwave.

Overall this is a must have for your collection. This is a great figure, sturdy and nothing short of awesome. This figure more than likely will be a big collectors item so snag one up while you can. You wont regret it. Hasbro thank you for the treat!

To ome Shockwave is another best Transformer, and how they try to keep him purple i think that is a plus, I found it cheaper at the stores and i had to look around in many store for this toy. I have the original that also came out again so that is cool, this toy is cool

Getting back into Transformers and catching up with the show, I had to figure out what to kick off the continuation of my collection with, and I decided to start with my favorite character across space and time…Galvatron! Wait…strike that. Anywho, I bought Shockwave and was overall very pleased (since they butchered him in Animated).
His robot form is imposing and menacing, nothing short excellent in a Decepticon. The legs have fantastic articulation as well as the arms, and even his hand is on a ball joint for additional posing. The only thing that irks me is the hinge joint on the upper arm that allows arm rotation because it seems that when trying to pose the cannon, the arm pops off frequently; it’s not a big deal, but be a little careful when posing the cannon arm. While on that note, there’s a gimmick with his cannon that opens it up and spins the barrel around. I’m not normally the type to be enthralled by little mechanics like this, but I found it fun to spin the cannon, though that could be because I’m odd enough as it is, but I digress.
The vehicle form is…eh. For this particular mode, it was fantastic. There are decent wheels that enable rolling motion and the tank looks good, but it’s just that the vehicle form itself isn’t impressive; Shockwave was a tank in michael bay’s embarrassingly bad Transformers film and likewise in Animated, so the tank thing is getting a little stale for a character as rare as he. Then again, when your left hand has been a cannon since 1984, your options are limited for possible alternate modes. I doubt we’ll see another giant hand gun alt. for Shockwave in the foreseeable future.
This figure is a must for Transformers collections because very few times have they done Shockwave this well and true. The figure is durable and looks impressively close to the TV show. For some reason, Hasbro’s thrown this whole “Beast” thing around for new toy lines, and THANKFULLY they did next to nothing with Shockwave. The “beast bits” are made of a tough rubber, but they don’t actually add anything flavour-wise to the appearance. But if you like them, then they’re there for you.
