Optimus Prime Dark of the Moon deluxe exclusive version rocks! This is the first time they have done a movie deluxe version of Optimus and it was very much worth the wait. The detail on Optimus in robot or truck mode is outstanding for a deluxe version. In robot mode Optimus has very articulated arms, legs, chest, with a very realistic head piece. In truck mode the flame design is very impressive with great realism from the cab to the back. The Mech Tech weapon Optimus comes with is Blaster that converts to a Energon Battle Axe for taking out decepticons up close or from a distance. The weapon can attach to the roof of the cab in truck mode. The poseability is also the best with Optimus having solid stability when in robot mode for acting out battle scenes or displaying the autobot hero where you please. The front of the truck does end up on the back in robot mode ,but if you position it facing down instead of up it dosen’t create any problems with the poses. The durability is excellent as well with Optimus being able to handle any challenge that comes his way. This is a very solid and durable transformer overall. The transformation level is intermediate meaning if you have plenty of experience with transformers there is minor difficulty. If you are a parent buying for a child of 5-6 or younger you might have to help some in the process.Honestly Optimus is very versatile for all ages where most should be able to handle it after a few times of transforming back&forth. The transformation starts off with the head sliding down while the chest pieces come together for the windshield section of the cab.The front of the truck which is on the back then is rotated up.Next the waist rotates around to then fold the arms up so the blue pieces on the bottom of the hands or showing on the back of the cab.On the feet the wheel on the inside of the leg folds out while the feet are rotated sideways then folded into position. The legs then connect together while rotating the one piece upwards to form the back of the truck. The front of the truck piece then slides backwards into place.Everything fits together very securely in the process for a sweet looking truck. When changing to robot there is a gray lever/button you push to pop the head of Optimus back up.It is located on the back piece in the middle.Bottom line Optimus Prime deluxe exclusive is a well-made,high quality,10 out of 10 transformer all fans should enjoy.I highly recommend Optimus Prime Dark of the Moon deluxe exclusive to all transformer fans and collectors alike.Optimus Rocks and Transformers Rule!!!

This is a nice little Optimus Prime with good detail, fairly easy transformation, and looks good in both truck and robot modes (though once again, the robot mode has the engine “backpack”).

The biggest problem with this version is the dull gray coloring in robot mode. This problem was easily remedied with some silver and red paint.

He has only two mechtech ports in truck mode, but six total in robot mode (where they are better put to use anyway). His axe/gun is somewhat boring, but he looks great with Starscream’s sword.

Overall, a nice, inexpensive (depending on where you buy) version of Prime, even without the touch-ups.

Before I say anything else, I will state the size of this figure. I am aware that there are many poorly informed Transformers-buyers running around Amazon, and to these people I say: beware. This is NOT the Voyager version, it is the Deluxe version. It is smaller and a significantly different mold.

    Now, onto the actual figure.

Deluxe Optimus in the Dark of the Moon line has one key difference from the Voyager version, other than the size: it is the regular version of Prime’s truck mode. While the Voyager needlessly adds heat shields, strange tanks underneath the cab, a distinctly alien pattern on the windshield, and dramatically changes the color scheme, the Deluxe version keeps it all the same. The only differences between the deluxe version and the real thing are the shortened smokestacks and a longer back section. (Also, there’s the inevitable robot parts showing in truck mode.

The MechTech weapon is the same as Mudflap’s from the same line, but with an orange blade, reflecting Optimus’s sword-like weapons seen in the first two movies. Unfortunately, it can’t lock into its axe mode, but the gun mode looks alright enough.

The transformation is pretty nice, and makes the robot mode fairly accurate. The only flaw is that the transformation leaves a huge backpack formed from the truck’s nose section, making the figure back heavy. Other than that, his robot mode is great. The articulation is a little bit BETTER than the Voyager’s, in that the actual windshield ends up on Prime’s chest, exactly where it should be. The Voyager did this to, but covered it up with a far worse looking chestpiece.

My only real gripe about this piece is that the packaging quality varies, as mine had a very noticeable stress mark as soon as I removed it from the package. Also, it’s a WalMart exclusive, and we all know why not to benefit them.

I’d recommend buying this online, and only if you’re an Optimus Prime fan, and not just a Transformers fan.
