Not bad, yet not quite Masterpiece quality., January 8, 2014

Bluestreak was the first G1 Transformer I ever had, so I was excited to see there was a Masterpiece version. Unfortunately, in a couple areas, this version just sort of left me cold.

I love the updated color scheme, and for being all plastic, the alt mode really DOES look metallic. No weird color matching issues that I saw. Being a Masterpiece figure, it’s quite posable, and you can get a lot of “action” positions that really make it look nice.

On the downside, this guy is all plastic. Granted, it’s pretty good plastic, but there are some places (like on the feet) that *look* plastic-y, rather than the metal look of the outside pieces, and even the WHEELS are plastic! Really? The Masterpiece collection is supposed to be high-end, and they can’t give us rubber tires? Other Masterpiece figures I have came with rubber tires, but not this one. Disappointing.

Also missing seem to be Bluestreak’s shoulder-mounted missiles. Sure there are little fold-up pieces, but I’m talking the big, red shoulder pieces that we’ve come to know and love from the G1 character. Sure, there are aftermarket add-ons that can be used, but it just feels like they should have somehow been included for the original.

Finally, there seems to be a minor defect wherein the front chest piece doesn’t seem to lock down into place – perhaps this is just unique to my figure, but – again – this is a Masterpiece figure; one would expect higher QC.

If you’re filling out a collection, or have a soft spot for Bluestreak and Prowl, then go ahead and get this. However, don’t have too high of expectations.

First off, I ordered this figure through BBTS, so I can’t really talk about the customer service through amazon, but I really think that this figure is amazing. I’ve collect almost every masterpiece model, and this one is one of my favorites. I have prowl as well, and this honestly just seems superior. I had a couple QC issues with prowl, like the joints being a little loose, and some minor paint blemishes, but my blue streak figure is flawless with QC. His joints are sturdy, and his colors just pop. The black is really glossy and high quality, and the red adds enough color so that the figure doesn’t come off as dull. Pictures do not do the colors justice. I’m a little disappointed with the lack of missile launchers, but I knew basically from the start that they were going to be some sort exclusive, and I like the smaller ones that are included because they are attached and can store in vehicle mode. All in all, this is my favorite of the datsuns. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that asks!

Just got my streak for around $55 shipped from Japan.
despite absolute zero diecast content and practically zero clicky joints…(only door hinges have clicky?..REALLY Takara), still overall I,m really impressed with this figure,

    Pros.
    Awesome sculpt.
    Awesome paint app.
    Beautiful head sculpt.
Relatively Easy transformation. I want a transformer….not a freaking puzzle.
    Really nice articulations.
Very high quality durable ABS plastic….very sturdy. I don,t notice any gummy toxic PVC. Oh also zero styro content in its tastefully designed packaging.
    Very little kibbles.

    Cons
The lower legs and feet are hollow…that’s ugly.
No diecast..come on, go head and charge me ten more and add some diecast in this car robot. get that? car…robot..both made of metal?
No clicky joints. any so called high quality masterpiece collectible toys need clickys….you gonna argue about that?
The snapping the chest tab to the torso was harrowing as it required considerable force till I heard loud snap.
One of my wheels were little wonky so it wasn’t as “rollable” as other three wheels.
when I took The brand new toy out of packaging, it had finger prints all over and bunch of hair line scratches on clear window parts…. the factory worker really needs to wipe it down before final packaging…

I,m pretty impressed with this TF. It’s Very sturdy and playable.
Around 50 paid for smallish all plastic with zero clicky toy (door hinges don’t count), it is almost fairly priced considering all the engineering that went make this toy look awesome on both car and the robot mode.
But I would gladly, GLADLY paid lot more if it had at least decent token diecast on feet and quality clickies.
The toy doesn’t tip due to the extra large feet and well engineered flip out heels, But it is still top heavy and not a well “weighted” figure.. If TT gave some diecast on the unpainted panels on its feet and lower legs to balance out the weight, it would have been a perfect, PERFECT toy.

For whatever pathetic excuses Takara Tommy thinks it’s okay to omit diecast and clickies on its MP, they are at best is in serious denial, at worst they’re clinically insane.
It’s also Quite ingenuine and dishonorable to do that to its own flagship line and it’s base cutomers/collectors . And I’m putting this VERY mildly, I still do want to appear somewhat civil and PC.
